Ode: Appreciation à Alberta

As the sun sets behind me

Behind the Alberta Rockies

The gibbous moon rises before me

I’ve just left Diamond Valley behind

Headed down the 22 highway

Gently rolling farmland I find

Interspersed with trees along my way..

Alberta, I’ve roamed your lands

In your oldest settlement I made new friends

Lighted by your midnight sun

The day scarcely ends

Why must the fun

So soon be done?

Alberta, for you I have written this ode,

Glad is my heart

That you’re a stop on life’s road.
